| Symptom | Possible cause |

| Won't spin or spins poorly | Worn drive belt, failed motor coupling, lid/door lock switch fault, or an unbalanced-load sensor issue. |
| Won't drain | Clogged drain pump or hose, a foreign object lodged in the pump, or a failed drain pump motor. |
| Excessive vibration or movement | Unlevel feet, worn suspension components (top-load), or damaged shock absorbers (front-load). |
| Leaking water | Worn door boot/gasket (front-load), a cracked hose or fitting, or an overfilled dispenser drawer. |
| Won't start or displays an error code | Door/lid lock fault, control-board fault, or a tripped thermal/motor protector. |
| Loud grinding or squealing | Worn tub bearing, motor bearing wear, or debris caught between the tub and basket. |
Error codes
Many modern washers display a manufacturer-specific error code. Note the exact code and include it in your service request — it narrows the likely fault before the technician arrives, though on-site testing still confirms the actual cause.
