Refrigerator Repair
Refrigerator and freezer repair
Refrigeration failures usually share overlapping symptoms with different root causes. RidgeCore diagnoses the actual fault — sealed system, electrical, or mechanical — before recommending a repair.
Common Symptoms
What we diagnose
| Symptom | Possible cause |
|---|---|
| Not cooling / warm interior | Sealed-system fault, condenser fan failure, dirty condenser coils, or a failed start relay/compressor. |
| Freezer cold, fridge warm (or reverse) | Evaporator fan failure, defrost system fault, or a blocked air-damper control. |
| Ice maker not producing ice | Water inlet valve fault, frozen fill tube, or a failed ice-maker module. |
| Water pooling inside or underneath | Clogged or frozen defrost drain, damaged door gasket, or a water-line connection leak. |
| Excessive noise or cycling | Condenser fan or evaporator fan bearing wear, or a compressor running outside normal cycle length. |
| Frost buildup in freezer | Door seal failure, defrost heater or thermostat fault, or a door left ajar. |
Why sealed-system work is handled differently
The sealed system — compressor, condenser, evaporator, and the refrigerant circuit connecting them — is a closed loop, unlike a fan or a door switch that can simply be unplugged and swapped. Opening it means recovering the refrigerant first, which is federally regulated: refrigerant can't be legally vented to the atmosphere.
From there it's finding and repairing the actual leak or component failure, then recharging the system correctly. That's a fundamentally different scope of work than a part swap, which is why RidgeCore documents sealed-system findings clearly and separately before any estimate involving that scope.
Before your visit
Note when the issue started, whether it's constant or intermittent, and any unusual sounds or smells. Find the model and serial number — typically on a sticker inside the fresh-food compartment along the wall or door frame — and include it in your service request if possible.
